Exciting things happening!

After the successful Spree-Test (See #18), we went back to the planning board and finetuned a lot of the future plans to foster our current developments and ideas.

Here's a sneak peak at the next few weeks:

  • We obtained new fat Lithium Polymer batteries (totalling some 28 Ah ;) for the MS0x00 and will test run the boat again with way more power, after integrating them with appropriate cabling.
  • The ANRV Software will be remodeled to a new structure (See #111) and probably refactored/renamed, since its basic system will not only be used in robotic devices
  • Watch out for our Boxens! ;)

Cheers, riot

After a successful lab-test of the Motorship 0, today we'll test live and in water in Berlin

You might want to come hang out at  c-base today if you're in Berlin, as we are preparing a real watered test of our Motorship 0 (MS0x00) after the successful laboratory (in c-base's c-lab) test (#17) yesterday evening.

Everything worked out as it should, after a few more tiny bugfixes. Now we're ready for the real thing.

Afterwards we'll be grilling there. See you!

Preparation almost done...

We're heading somewhere and the target is already in reach. I've prepared the ship's software and dependencies just a few minutes ago. This involved updating the already installed armhf Debian port (we're deliberately using Sid, btw).

Unfortunately that didn't work out trivially, but luckily only involved changing apt's sources.conf to point to the official debian repositories, since armhf is now (almost) released. Big thanks to the armhf team! Yay! \o/

Next up:

If you're interested in the future plans for the internal messaging system and maybe want to contribute, have a look at Ticket #111.

Current Development: ANRV Joystick Remote Control

Wikimedia Commons image of a Joystick (From Gnomes Nuvola Theme) To test the whole system, we need a reliable interface which must be configurable, knows how to display facts and understands a nice input method. Premier choice: a joystick. In our case a 12 button, 4 axis model.

Joystick input already works, first simple display controls are available. Simple PyGame objects and display-only components will be created with Kamaelia as backend.

I'll publish some documentation about the messaging, component and server/client architecture along the development in the next few days.

So stay tuned, watch our feeds and join us in IRC.

SSL required for login now

I hope it doesn't bother anyone, but login to our development trac is only possible via ssl now. If you're experiencing problems with that, please make sure  you have CACert's root certificates installed. If you're still having problems, contact  riot.

Everything else can be transferred without encryption, so please consider the safety protocols and always use  https. Thank you.
